First Day of Conference

Report From Vicki -

The delegates from PLC Sydney today were introduced to and thrived in the intense, informative and fun environment that is THIMUN. All dressed in business attire and armed with our research knowledge and resolutions we felt like professional diplomats.

Today was the opportunity for us to lobby- that is to collaborate with fellow delegates to create a resolution pertaining to an issue of our choice in our assembly. These ranged from the territorial integrity of former Soviet republics in GA1 to the issue of sex tourism in GA3. We worked hard to campaign for our ideals and beliefs in how these issues could be solved, improving our communication and negotiation skills, to produce the optimal resolution. In the process we met delegates from all over the world, from China to Lithuania to Canada and made fast friends.

Many of us were able to co-submit resolutions and contribute several clauses.

After hours of lobbying, some heated, we are looking forward to debating tomorrow.
