Farewell Singapore

Reflecting back on the past week in Singapore, I'm so grateful to have come to THIMUN once again. In this past week, I've witnessed the power of MUN and its ability to unite and bring together so many teenagers from all around the world, all with different nationalities, experiences, and backgrounds to one institution in Singapore, to debate and engage in current global issues and topics that are significant to the community. This past week was an extremely eyeopening and life changing experience,  enabling me to develop into a new person, one that is now  a much more interested, concerned and engaged young women who wants to create change for a better world.
I'll like to take this opportunity to thank PLC for giving me the chance to return to THIMUN once again, being able to meet many new life long friends, engage in passionate debates and being exposed and involved in many current global issues. Thank you to Ms Fields and Mrs White for being such fantastic MUN Directors, for giving up your time and looking after us in Singapore for the past week.

THIMUN Singapore was certainly a personal highlight for 2015 and one that I will cherish and never forget.
To all future delegates, I hope that you will enjoy every moment of this conference as THIMUN Singapore is definitely a one of a kind life changing experience.

Exploring Singapore

On Monday, we walked to the nearby Museum of Singapore. A serene and beautifully presented museum, there were numerous rooms which displayed the history, clothes and society of Singapore.

We walked a short distance to the iconic Raffles Hotel and enjoyed morning tea in this elegant building.

We made our way back to Orchard Road on the train and had a delicious lunch in Ion Orchard before returning to our Hotel for school work and THIMUN preparation.

In the evening we headed to China town on a guided tour.
What a fun night!

Alison and Averlie discuss the benefits of some items in the Chinese Medicine shop we visited. Abalone from Australia had it's own shelf!

Our friendly guide shared some fascinating information on the history of Chinese immigration to Singapore and the traditional architecture in the district.

Browsing through the colourful market was fun!

Dinner in China town

After dinner we had a hilarious ride on trishaws to Clarke Quay.

After our exhilarating trishaw journey we soaked up the happy vibe and live music at Clarke Quay for a short while then climbed on board a charming ferry boat decorated with Christmas decorations. We then enjoyed a relaxing and beautiful tour along the banks of the river. It was a fantastic way to see and admire the magnificent buildings and iconic views of Singapore.

The stunning Fullerton Hotel

The financial district. (The guide explained "In Singapore it is believed the higher the building the greater the status of the company!)
